The fourth and final installment of our "according to children's songs" set examines the mysterious metamorphosis of "Alice the Camel":
Alice the camel has five humps, Alice the camel has five humps, Alice the camel has five humps, So ride, Alice, ride. Boom, boom, boom! Alice the camel has four humps... Alice the camel has three humps... Alice the camel has two humps... Alice the camel has one hump... Alice the camel has no humps, Alice the camel has no humps, Alice the camel has no humps 'Cause Alice is a horse, of course. Continuing with our theme, day three depicts "Do Your Ears Hang Low":
Do your ears hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow? Can you throw them o'er your shoulder Like a continental soldier? Do your ears hang low? Part two of our "according to children's songs" series is based on the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes":
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes And eyes, and ears, and mouth, and nose Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes So this is the first in a four-part series illustrating silly children's songs. It was inspired by "There Are No Bananas in the Sky":
There are no bananas in the sky, in the sky There are no bananas in the sky There's a sun And a moon And a coconut cream pie But there are no bananas in the sky, in the sky! So, this is a bonus note because it is slightly scandalous. *shock* ::gasp:: faint
It only makes sense when sung to the tune of this song by Sean Cullen. (I apologize for spelling "wheay" incorrectly in the note.) "Doooooooooooo, doot-do, doot-do, do-do do-do do-do-dooooo...."
This was a combination of the "tamago" song from Revolutionary Girl Utena, the "map" song from Dora the Explorer, and our exposure to this egg song.
1/14/14 Edit: My husband reminded me that there was a character in Moribito who said something akin to this. Apparently we were eggs-posed to a lot of egg references at the same time. This was folded into a card with the first image on the front, and the second image on the inside. Please hold onto your indignant gasps until the post has come to a complete stop.
