A blog about lunch notes? Really? What's the story with that?
Several years ago, right when we were in the middle of wedding planning and looking for an apartment to settle down in together, and while I was in the process of finishing my college degree, my husband's job was suddenly transferred to a different state. So, with only a few weeks' notice, we packed up our lives and relocated to unfamiliar territory.
It was hectic, and nerve-wracking, and exciting, but my husband was having trouble adjusting. He is a creature of habit, and is wary of any Big Life Changes, especially when they are thrust upon him without warning. With a new home, a new office, a new state, and a new wife who was busy applying to a new college - he was overloaded by change.
In an effort to help ease his tension, I started packing his lunch each morning to give him one less thing to worry about. Fairly soon after, I started sneaking notes into his lunches: jokes, fun facts, silly doodles, anything to give him a laugh and lift his spirits. He enjoyed them so much, I made it a routine habit, and he began to look forward to them each work day.
Over the years, we have kept the tradition of the lunch notes going as best as time and work schedules allow. Some of the notes are funny, some of them are sweet, many of them are geeky, some of them don't make any sense, some of them only make sense to us, some of them were hastily drawn in 30 seconds or less and look terrible, some of them took an hour to draw and look slightly better than terrible, but no matter what, they were all written/drawn with love and encouragement.
We decided to start this blog to share our project with the world, and to show that sometimes all it takes is a little note to brighten someone's day and show how much you care.

About the timeline...
From November 25, 2013 through September 5th, 2014, we posted daily from our accumulated backlog of lunch notes, in chronological order, starting with the very first note drawn in 2011. In this way we were able to post every note drawn over the span of 3 years within just over 9 months of blogging.
On September 8th, 2014, we officially caught up to real time, and notes were posted on the same day they were drawn, when I was able to draw them.
The blog was then inactive for the majority of 2015-mid 2018, since we moved states again, and he changed jobs twice.
On August 25, 2018, I dusted off the blog and resolved to post all the bits and bobs from the hiatus, plus some older stuff that somehow never made it on here. This round of notes is not going to be in chronological order. Not even close. I was consolidating them out of the chaos of moving boxes, desk drawers, office shelves, 5 computers plus a backup flash drive, camera memory cards, and everywhere else they got stashed during the downtime. I will do my best to group them by theme so they at least have some sort of flow.
