The next few weeks are going to be an exercise in inanity and absurdity, with a series of speed-drawn digital joke doodles that make scribbling look like fine art.
Before we get into that, though, here are a few pictures from our 4th anniversary celebration back in 2015...
[front sides of the cards we made for each other]
His is a computer printout of the abrian monster ("ostrich with arms") as it appears in the D&D 3.0 "Fiend Folio."
Mine is a colored pencil drawing on brown cardstock depicting a maple tree being tapped for syrup.
[insides of the two cards]
"Being with you gives me all sorts of warm, fuzzy emutions.
...sorry; I guess that was a bit of ostrich.
Happy 4th Anniversary!
"Just another "sappy" anniversary card...
[photo of the dinner table with it's white brocade tablecloth, white lace table runner, fancy place settings, decorative garden-themed candle arrangements, and assortment of homemade pastie pastries]
[closeup on one of the place settings. It has a polished bamboo placemat topped with an embellished blue ceramic plate. In the center of the plate sits a green napkin folded into a rose, and adorned with cut paper leaves. Around the sides are silver spiral cutlery, a square-sided glass, and an ornamental miniature origami crane]
Day 11: Raven
Yeah, this whole thing is just one bad pun on the word rave.
If it makes you feel better, I did spend quite a lot of time looking at reference photos for ravens and crows, so the wings, feet, and beak are as accurate as I can make them.
I spent almost zero time looking at reference photos for the rave gear, though, so let's all pretend that's what cool kids were rocking three years ago.
This is also the last of the Drawlloween drawings because I never finished the rest of the challenges.
[digitally-colored pencil drawing of a raven wearing a yellow wig, pink sunglasses, an assortment of glowstick necklaces, a teal tutu with a pompom overlay and pink fringe, and a set of pink furry legwarmers. He is carrying a glowstick in each hand, and is singing "oon-tz-oon-tz-oon-tz-woop-woop"]
Day 8: Zombie
I present my take on a Conehead Zombie from Plants vs. Zombies. It's my personal fave of all the Drawlloween doodles because he turned out so gosh darn happy! You just can't help but love him. <3
[digitally-colored pencil drawing of a wide-grinning zombie hugging his traffic cone close while a heart floats overhead]
Day 6: Pumpkin
"Jackie O' "
I was playing around with the idea of doing a female anthropomorphic "jackie-o'-lantern," and my mind immediately jumped to Jacqueline "Jackie O" Kennedy Onassis and her legacy as a fashion icon.
I attempted a faithful version with the gloves and pillbox hat.
It was scrapped for looking too much like a flight attendant.
Thus I ultimately created a modern fantasy dress design instead of copying her signature style, but I at least kept the hair Jacqueline-reminiscent.
[digitally-colored inked pencil drawing of a female anthropomorphic jack-o'-lantern with a carved face, green 60's-inspired hair, and a poofy-skirted pumpkin dress that uses the stem as a sculpted bodice and vines as sleeve details.]
My name is Shannon, and I draw silly things.
