Day 127: W is for Wartortle

Another True Story:
Last year I started playing Pokémon HeartGold... because reasons.  I made it past the final four, got up to Lance, and he was all, "Hey there, I heard you like DRAGONS!!!!!!"  I lost (pathetically), went to level up some more, came back, made it past the final four, got back to Lance, and he was all, "You must not have learned your lesson before.  Have some more DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  Then I said, "dragons are dumb ::mumble, grumble::" and went off to play Omikron, instead.
The End.
W is for the pokemon known as Wartortle...
I like wartortles because they are not dragons.

Day 126: V is for Vincent

Ahhh, Vincent Price, the King of Creepy Movies.  I tried to do spooky lettering, but halfway through forgot the rhyme scheme I was using.  That's why the "it" is penciled in at the end, instead of being part of the ghostly text like it should; it is supposed to read "If you dare it!"
V is for Vincert Price...If you dare it!
Due to KITH, I can't see this post without thinking of shiny things.

Day 125: U is for Unagi

Today's note is inspired by the anime Popotan, where the family ferret occasionally rides around in Ai's cleavage.  Despite its fanservice elements, the show has an interesting enough plot and some pretty insightful dialogue at points.

[
We found out after-the-fact it was based on a racy video game, so BEWARE if you decide to Google it.  The show is safely PG13, and doesn't depict anything too questionable, but the game (which we have not played) is apparently rated M for "mostly nekked."]
U is for Unagi, the luckiest ferret...
I was originally considering cosplaying as Ai for a convention, and then I found out about the game and went "nope." nope nope nope.

Day 124: T is for Two Guys

T is for Two Guys from Andromeda, the geniuses behind the Space Quest games.  They parted ways in 1991, but recently got back together in 2012 to start work on a brand new space-themed adventure game.
T is for Two Guys whose adventures in space portend danger for Roger lurking everyplace.
You try and take the caption, but it is firmly stuck inside the screen.

Day 123: S is for Strong Mad

One of the first things that Nathaniel did when we started dating was to systematically show me every video, image, game, and song on homestarrunner.com.  I absolutely loved it, to the point that he bought me my very own kickable The Cheat.
S is for Strong Mad Who's filled up with Rage.
Things I've done that I should probably be ashamed of: placing my stuffed The Cheat on Nathaniel's head and then announcing "I'm Cheating on you!"

Day 122: R is for Ring Man

Awesome True Story: My husband proposed to me using a statue of Ring Man (a robot master from Mega Man 4 ) he hand-built out of Legos.  Read the full saga here, here, here, and here.
R is for Ring Man who helped us engage...
Ring Man is Red. Mega Man is Blue. Here are some Legos. Can I marry you?

Day 121: Q is for Q*bert

This is one of two notes where I decided to have a self-contained rhyme scheme because I really wanted R and S to go together.

Here we have the titular character from the arcade game
Q*bert, standing atop his pyramid.  The game's developers pioneered a number of unique design features including isometric controls and an audio track that blended computerized sounds, speech synthesis, and pinball machinations.
Q is for Q*bert who jumps on his blocks, and looks like an octorok who doesn't shoot rocks.
...or maybe like a cross between Otto the Orange and the Snowths. Either way, he looks silly.

Day 120: P is for Portals

Today's note is a reference to the creative puzzle-platformer Portal, a popular PC game that portrays perjured pastries and square parallelepiped pals.
P is for portals that lead to dessert.
Mmmmm... delicious, delicious falsehoods.

What geeky alphabet would be complete without a Dungeons & Dragons reference?
O is for Oozes that bring on the hurt...
In real world, you eat jello. In game world, jello eats you!

Day 118: N is for Number Four

When my husband and I were on our honeymoon, we stayed at a lovely B&B that had a large family of housecats, one of whom, named Number 4, decided to adopt us for the weekend.  He followed us around on our walks, and then later snuck into our room and ungracefully wedged himself between us as we were trying to sleep.

Note: My thought bubble should be read with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for children on Christmas morning.  My husband's thought bubble should be read with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for seeing a small child approach one's computer keyboard with a glass of juice and a sense of mischievous curiosity.
N is for Numbr 4 who sneaks in our bed...
Number 4's meow should be read with the confusion of a cat who put himself in an unflattering situation and then wonders why he's there.
