This will always be the best note he has ever left for me.

A mashup of Magnet Man from Mega Man 3 and this classic flash video.
[pen and pencil drawing of Magnet Man covered in lobsters, with text "They're not even metal. Why are they sticking to me?!"] It's an idiotic movie, but we still love "A Night at the Roxbury," and we still head bob in unison every time "What is Love" plays on the radio. So when my husband got a job on Dock Street, I decided to draw this parody note, "A Day at 1 Dock-sbury," with him wearing sunglasses and head bobbing to "What is work? Baby don't shirk me, don't shirk me, no more..."
[pen and marker drawing of a turtle wearing sunglasses singing "do do do dooo do feelin' groovy!"]
This note was inspired by an anecdote from my husband's teenage years. It involved a music teacher, a circle drawn on a whiteboard, and a series of Christmas carol puns. He asked me to draw a note referencing the story, specifically requesting "heavenly peas." I have tried my best.
[two angelic peas with wings and halos fly around an open pod containing three sleepy-faced peas] I'm pretty sure this bizarre note evolved from a combination of:
- my obsessive singing of "There Are No Bananas in the Sky" - my near-constant dessert cravings - ruminating on the idiom "pie in the sky" If there is a deeper tale to tell, I don't remember it. [image of a crying me saying "Come back! I want to eat you!" as I watch the stoically angelic Pie in Sky rocket into the air, leaving behind a trail of rainbow and light. Text at bottom reads "...but the pie would not return."] I don't know why this note amuses me so much, but it does. Here we have Dora the Explorer in the role of "cloaked, solemnly-up-to-no-good" Harry Potter. She is accompanied by her trusty, yet annoying, singing Marauder's Map.
This week's theme will be "Harry Potter Parodies." First up is "Hufflepuff the Magic Dragon," a mashup of the classic children's song character and Luna Lovegood. (Yes, I know she's a Ravenclaw, but he is totally a Hufflepuff. Plus, she is the only one who would be able to see him, and I think they would be fast friends.)
Also, I've created a Facebook page for this blog. View it here. Let's face it, cats choose to sleep in the weirdest of spaces.
Inspired by the song "In the House of Stone and Light" by Martin Page. I really shouldn't poke fun at this song because it happens to be one of my all time favourites, but I knew my husband would get a kick out of this joke.
