Today I bring you a double feature of characters from Black Lagoon :

I apologize for the recent lack of posts. Between holiday traveling, vacation time, and both of us getting sick not once, but twice, there really hasn't been much in the way of note-drawing lately.
My husband has been playing through Lufia: The Legend Returns, and was fighting enemies labelled as "oak." They are not trees, but are green turtle-like creatures who have an "oink oink checking situation" special scouting attack. He determined after hours and hours of gameplay that these are supposed to be Orcs, and it is just a really bad translation error. An inside joke which involves being the "toast of the town" for winning at Burnout.
A friend of ours was dared to do a video playthrough of Hatoful Boyfriend, a pigeon-based parody of the dating sim genre. Inspired by this hilarious gem of a game, I decided to draw an Okosan-themed note, celebrating his complete "ultimate pudding" ending.
(warning: video link contains mild cussing) Last week I did a shout-out on the Facebook page asking for suggestions of what to draw next. I received this response from E. A. Baker of Can't Stop a Squirtle - "A yoshi with different footwear than boots. Like if a bunch of them went out shoe shopping or something."
This morning I logged onto my computer and saw an article listing 25 shoe designs from Milan Fashion Week. I decided to draw Yoshi modelling actual footwear designs from Milan (Alberta Ferretti, Byblos, and Alberto Zambelli), modified to reflect various characters from the Mario Bros. franchise (Toadette, Yoshi, and Luigi, respectively). Any other suggestions on what to draw this week? Today was my husband's interview, so I made him this cheering figurine out of an actual chestnut, felt, and paper. This also concludes the Chestnut saga.
He got tired of flapping his arms and being shot out of cannons, and decided to try a new form of long-distance travel...
My husband is scheduled to interview for an advanced position at work, so I made him this card with Chestnut trading his wings for an upgraded rocket-cannon. (The bit about the exploding star was due to our just having watched the mini-series Exploding Sun.)
I liked the idea of him repurposing his leaf-wings as blankets at night.
