Day 7: Haunted House
"House's Head"

Instead of drawing an architectural house, I chose to draw Dr. House, since at the time I was in the process of binging the series on Netflix.

In the cliffhanger titled "House's Head" (season 4, episode 15), he is haunted by hallucinations as he desperately tries to remember something that could have life or death implications. The text in the drawing is the repeated question nagging at him across the entire episode.

I would like to point out that this is probably the highest caliber piece of artwork that has ever graced this blog, and was drawn in 30 minutes while loosely eyeballing a reference photo on my monitor. (Proof I can actually art if I put in the effort.)

Day 5: Werewolf
"Where wolf?"

This image was directly inspired by a quote from Young Frankenstein:
Inga: "Werewolf!"
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: "Werewolf?"
Igor: "There."
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: "What?"
Igor: "There, wolf. There, castle."

Day 4: Vampire
"Vampire Queen of All Cosmos"

The mashup no one wanted: Countess Carmilla from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, drawn in the style of The Queen of All Cosmos from the Katamari franchise.

I couldn't help myself. They both have tube-shaped heads.

Day 2: Devil
"Cruella de Vil"

I wanted to do something different than expected for this one, so I went with a Disney devil instead of the more typical religious kind. Still evil, though.

A play on muggle-born wizards. 
You would think that in a fantasy world of unicorns, dragons, nargles, trolls, centaurs, veela, and hippogriffs, there would be a few anthropomorphic magical animals running around.

I don't know why this note amuses me so much, but it does.  Here we have Dora the Explorer in the role of "cloaked, solemnly-up-to-no-good" Harry Potter.  She is accompanied by her trusty, yet annoying, singing Marauder's Map.

A mashup of Rin Tin Tin and House Slytherin. 
Rin Tin Tin almost single-handedly saved Warner Bros. Studio with his film Where the North Begins in 1923.  In 1929, he would have won the Academy Award for Best Actor if the studio hadn't decided to hand it to a human actor in a show of formality.  Despite having a bad temper, he took directions well and starred in a total of 27 films.  Two of his offspring also went on to lead successful acting careers.  He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was gifted with a key to NYC.  I would say that with so much cunning, power, and prestige, Rin Tin Tin extolled the virtues of House Slytherin well.

Continuing with our theme, here is the next Harry Potter parody, "Thurl Ravenclawft."  This drawing combines House Ravenclaw with one of Thurl Ravenscroft's iconic roles, Tony the Tiger.

Following in the footsteps of yesterday's post, here is another Dilbert/yak mashup.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make pointy-hair horns.

You may have noticed that I am no longer posting every day.  That is because as of the 8th,  I am officially caught up to real time.  Huzzah!    Going forward, instead of posting daily from a 3-year backlog of notes as I had been doing, I will now only be posting on days when I actually draw something for my husband's lunch.  That means a maximum of 5x a week if I am on the ball, or less often if I am lazy, busy, or off the hook because he is working from home (I missed two days this week due to running out of time in the morning).  So hang in there with us as we continue to share our absurdity with you one lunch note at a time.
