Recently my husband was promoted to an editor position at work. However, due to the complexity of his company's internal transition process, there ended up being quite a long span of time between when he interviewed for the job, when he was verbally notified of the promotion, when he was given a physical offer letter, and when he finally started in his new role.
To make the wait a bit more bearable, we decided to celebrate each of these milestones with either cake or a dinner out. For the interview, I made him a crudely drawn Mega Man themed "Mega Cake," and for the verbal notification I made him a frosted, candle-bedecked cake with a thematic, tongue-in-cheek note. Both of these cakes used ChaosLife's "wacky cake" recipe, my new favourite go-to chocolate cake batter.
