A geeky spoof of Beckett's Waiting for Godot, but with the same "you can't wait for someone else to save you" message.
What happens when you take a group of tipsy geeks at New Year's and give them a stack of board games? This.
There are too many inside jokes to explain, but referenced games include: Bang!, Settlers of Catan, Curses!, Dread Pirate, and various incarnations of Flux. I love my husband. He is clever, and funny, and handsome, and supportive, and eloquent, and patient, and geeky, and creative... but he cannot be trusted with any sort of building or construction project.
There is a legitimate moon cat in Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back. It looks nothing like this; but as soon as I heard about it I drew this note, and then ran around the house singing a parody of "Moonshadow"... I'm being followed by a moon cat, moooon cat, moon caaaaaat...
This is an older note that should have been posted around the time of our anniversary. I left it on his desk along with a custom-ordered bottle of Jones soda that used a picture from our wedding album.
I have been dealing with internet problems the entire weekend, so this image is especially apropos to my situation.
I asked my husband what he wanted me to draw next, and he said "a fuzzy, fuzzy hippo."
We are probably the only two people on the planet who didn't really care for Secret of Mana, but at least the muppety Popoi made for good lunch note fodder, so something positive came from buying the game.
Fun fact: The song "Mah-Nà Mah-Nà" is actually "Viva la Sauna Svedese" by Piero Umilani. It was originally composed as throwaway background music for the soundtrack of a 1960's Italian documentary about Sweden. The song was written in less than a minute, and the composer considered it "worthless." |
